Welcome to this new section of our Website. St. Mary’s had a Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) for a number of years but it sadly ceased to function a few years ago. Early in 2010 a group of Parishioners met to discuss what the laity of the Parish could do to assist the clergy in the mission of our Church both to ourselves and to the wider world, and the result of that was a determination to re-create the PPC. Accordingly, at the direction of our Parish Priest, an election was held on Sunday 24 October 2010 and nine new PPC councillors were elected.The inaugural meeting of the PPC took place on 25 November 2010 and the Council will meet about four times a year thereafter. All of our new Councillors pledged themselves to the service of the Parish at a commissioning ceremony held at Mass on Sunday 31 October 2010. - On the 16th of February a meeting was held to consider the implications of the Diocesan paper "Called to be a Children of Hope" for the parish of St. Mary's. Many views were expressed and noted, and we have now produced a discussion paper which we hope will be read and answered by everyone in the parish. It can be downloaded by first clicking on 'Parish Matters (Public)' and then selecting either download or view.
If you have any comments on the paper you can place them in the box that will be placed at the back of the church from the 21st March 2010. A second parish meeting to discuss this paper and the way ahead was held at the parish centre on Tuesday 13th April 2010 at 7.30. Please note that two of the documents arising from the discussion have been temporarily removed from the website for updating; these are: 'Parish Matters - Paper 02' and 'Notes from Parish Matters' Meeting - 20100413'.
Making Time for God - 20100413 is a summary of the discussion under that theme. -

NEWSLETTERS FOR BATH DEANERY
These Newsletters will be published about four times a year. Bath Deanery consists of both city and rural parishes as far south as and including Downside Abbey. The newsletter contains information about cross-deanery initiatives, articles about parishes and subjects of general interest and also a calendar of events. The newsletters will be available on the St Mary’s website. There are also copies available at the back of the St. Mary's church if you do not have internet access.
